Episode 1

Freedom from a Distracted or Carnal Mind

Published on: 2nd December, 2023

A live recording where I was a guest on a segment called "The Morning Munch." This went out through the airwaves on Toledo's one and only YESFM Radio Station with Chris Shannon and Jeff Howell! I share a devotional the Lord placed on my heart, Freedom from a Distracted or Carnal Mind!"

This was an incredibly humbling opportunity to be on the radio and share God's word. I pray this blesses the hearts of all those who listen!

and inspiring conversations about faith

7

:

and how, as a believer,

we should navigate the kingdom reality.

8

:

We are excited

9

:

that you are part of an adventure

where authenticity and faith intersect.

10

:

Welcome to the Authentic Podcast.

11

:

Let's dive in.

12

:

It is time now for the Morning Lunch,

our morning devotional.

13

:

And all week long we have been blessed

and have been enjoying the presence

14

:

of Christian Seer from 85 frames Ministry.

15

:

Christian, good morning.

16

:

Good morning.

17

:

You guys have been such a blessing to me

as well.

18

:

Oh, man.

19

:

Thank you. Yeah, we've enjoyed.

We have enjoyed having you all.

20

:

So we know you said at the start

of this whole thing there were four key

21

:

words

that were downloaded into your spirit.

22

:

And today we're on to number three.

23

:

Is that about right?

24

:

We're out of three.

25

:

Yeah, three out of four right now? Yup.

26

:

Curious what you got for us today, sir?

27

:

Sure. Hey, good morning.

28

:

Everyone out there listening.

29

:

I call you the head and not the tail.

30

:

More than a conqueror, seen

and loved by God, the father himself.

31

:

This week I have the honor and privilege

of bringing you the morning Munch.

32

:

And yes, the Lord gave me four words.

33

:

One for each day from Tuesday to Friday,

to lay on the hearts of those listening.

34

:

The underlying theme for each

one of these words is freedom.

35

:

Tuesday,

we discussed freedom from fear of man.

36

:

Yesterday, we discussed

freedom from immorality and lust.

37

:

And today we will discuss

freedom from a distracted or carnal mind.

38

:

The world that we live in

is fueled by the next big thing

39

:

flashing lights, catchy advertisements,

40

:

and a never ending source of entertainment

called the Internet.

41

:

We have denominations, parties,

groups, movements and communities.

42

:

There are new cars, new inventions,

new news,

43

:

new life events, and new ways of thinking.

44

:

There are so many things in this world

enticing our attention.

45

:

They are actually begging us to yield

to them.

46

:

Once in our complete devotion

and participation,

47

:

our minds become flooded with information.

48

:

Plagued by the question,

What does it all mean?

49

:

While trying to figure out

50

:

how to fill the void

the world has left called emptiness,

51

:

a void that constantly has you feeding

52

:

its bottomless pit with more of the world,

a void that hungers

53

:

for identity,

relevance, purpose and attention.

54

:

A void

only Jesus Christ can truly satisfy.

55

:

Let me share some wisdom with you

56

:

that has been absolutely necessary

and quite momentous in my walk.

57

:

Ecclesiastes

chapter one tells us that which has been

58

:

is that which will be again

and that which has been done.

59

:

Is that which will be done again?

60

:

So there is nothing new under the sun.

61

:

What advantage does man have from all

his work, which he does while earthbound?

62

:

Vanity of vanities.

63

:

All that is done without God's guidance.

64

:

Is vanity futile?

65

:

A wisp of smoke merely chasing the wind.

66

:

We can do

10,000 steps on our own strength, guys.

67

:

But if not one of them was ordered by God,

it was meaningless.

68

:

Centering our hearts on this wisdom

allows us to become less distracted

69

:

by the world and more focused on

what God has for us.

70

:

For me, growing up as a kid,

I had a great childhood

71

:

parents and grandparents who loved me.

72

:

Many friends played

lots of sports, went on vacations.

73

:

My family was a Christian family

but only attended.

74

:

Church is a religious activity.

75

:

So a true personal relationship with Jesus

76

:

and a surrendered

lifestyle was never modeled to me.

77

:

I know it's each of our responsibilities

78

:

to cultivate that personal relationship

with Jesus.

79

:

But as a result

of what my parents modeled in my choices,

80

:

I didn't have my own faith to stand on

at age 13 when they entered into divorce.

81

:

Caught up in a whirlwind of emotions,

13 year old me

82

:

allowed the world to distract

and keep me in a carnal mindset.

83

:

The world enticed my attention

and I participated.

84

:

I was filling my void

with plenty of the world for

85

:

what would be years to come at that point,

but never truly filling it with Jesus.

86

:

We become what we intake,

87

:

what we center our mind

on, we gravitate towards.

88

:

My mindset for those 13 years of life

produced a lot of heartache,

89

:

depression, trouble,

weight of circumstances

90

:

that would literally collapse me

to my knees and isolation to name a few.

91

:

But around year eight out of those

13 years, God spoke to me through a song.

92

:

The lyrics were You chose the cage

you live in because it feels like home.

93

:

From that moment

94

:

I cried out to be set free

from a carnal and distracted mind.

95

:

God started to get a hold of me, or rather

I started to get a hold of him.

96

:

We started a process

that would ultimately draw me to himself.

97

:

Less of me and more of him.

98

:

Ephesians 513 says,

99

:

But all things become visible

when they are exposed by the light.

100

:

For it is light

that makes everything visible.

101

:

If you are struggling with a distracted

or carnal mindset,

102

:

you need to expose it to the light.

103

:

I know the difficulties

of being submerged in the world

104

:

and trying to get to Jesus, or

even just realizing that He is the answer.

105

:

But you need to read God's word.

106

:

There isn't a magic potion

or a wand you can wave.

107

:

The biblical principle of seed, time

and harvest is always true.

108

:

What you sow, you reap.

109

:

You have to get into the Bible.

110

:

You need to discover

what God says about you.

111

:

And believe me, it's good.

112

:

And when we know the truth,

we can reject and repent from the lie.

113

:

Until I realized

that I was choosing the cage

114

:

I was living in and that life is chasing

nothingness unless it's for God.

115

:

I was stuck.

116

:

It doesn't matter

if you've been a Christian for 15 years

117

:

or 15 minutes or even a Christian at all.

118

:

You operating in your own strength

is a waste of time and energy.

119

:

You vitally need help from the outside

to renew your inside out

120

:

and ultimately break you

out of your distracted or carnal mindset.

121

:

Don't get stuck like I did,

but yield to Jesus and know that

122

:

what he has in store for you

is far greater

123

:

than you could ever manufacture

for yourself.

124

:

Surrendering to

Jesus doesn't make you weak.

125

:

It takes courage and strength

to yield to him.

126

:

It's the toughest decision

you'll ever make.

127

:

But I promise you,

there is freedom in surrender.

128

:

Just because you choose Jesus.

129

:

It doesn't mean you won't have to deal

with any consequences

130

:

from choices made prior

to accepting Christ.

131

:

Actions still do have consequences.

132

:

Just make sure you keep choosing

light over darkness.

133

:

Choose freedom, not cage.

134

:

I'll close with these two verses

from Colossians three and verse

135

:

John one before transitioning

into a moment of prayer and discussion.

136

:

Set your mind and keep

137

:

focused habitually

on the things above the heavenly things,

138

:

not on the things that are on earth

which have only temporal value.

139

:

So put to death and deprive of power

the evil longings of your earthly body

140

:

with its sensual, self-centered instincts,

141

:

and know that if we freely admit

that we have sinned and confess our sins,

142

:

he is faithful and just true to his own

nature and promises, and will forgive

143

:

our sins and cleanse us continually

from all unrighteousness, our wrongdoing,

144

:

everything, not in conformity

with his will and purpose.

145

:

So let's go into some prayer.

146

:

Father, we know that

147

:

your heart is that none would perish.

148

:

That all would come

to a saving knowledge of your son.

149

:

I pray that your voice would become

much louder than any competing voices

150

:

for all of those that are listening

reestablished their thoughts.

151

:

Father, would you give them the ability

and courage

152

:

to overcome the distractions

of this world, destroy every proud

153

:

and exalted thing

that opposes Christ in my life and theirs?

154

:

Download to them

revelation of time on earth

155

:

and breathe on their mind

so they would focus on the things

156

:

above and blend their hearts

so they can receive them.

157

:

And Jesus mighty name.

158

:

Amen.

159

:

Amen. We are all we're Christians.

160

:

Sarah of 85 things

Ministry. Christian, you.

161

:

What I like about you

162

:

is this as an artist, because you're

a photographer is an artist's artist.

163

:

Always have a way of doing things

164

:

that might be a little bit different

than the way that a lot of the others

165

:

view things.

166

:

Because you're an artist,

you view things a certain way.

167

:

And I think this morning to remind us,

a gentle nudge about the distracted mind,

168

:

what a timely message, because we really

could be a little bit distracted.

169

:

And a lot of times

we just don't even realize it.

170

:

It's it's super easy because we drive

171

:

cars, we go to work,

we put on shoes, all physical things.

172

:

You know, we live in the natural,

but our new life is hidden in Christ.

173

:

And he is the only way,

the only truth, the only life.

174

:

And it's it's our objective.

175

:

It's what we're called to do

is to seek out that new life in him.

176

:

And yes,

the world is quite distracting and

177

:

it's just a day.

178

:

Today could not have been more timely.

179

:

And you're right,

180

:

your ministry is going to be five

frames and it's 85 frames dot com.

181

:

You can find out

more about Christians. There.

182

:

And so we have them for another day.

183

:

We have one for tomorrow yet Come on.

184

:

Fourth word

185

:

and it's been pretty potent this entire

week And Christian, it's kind of cool

186

:

that we're looking at your Tick-Tock

and finding out.

187

:

So for those of you who want to get

to understand more about Christian,

188

:

the great thing about him is

so you can do some of your videos here.

189

:

One of the questions come to Jesus,

say to your mother and father,

190

:

you were teasing.

191

:

No, I was I was that easy.

192

:

If you have another one down here,

a Romans eight for prayer,

193

:

you have more through here

about family business.

194

:

You have the assurance of salvation

and about the words

195

:

and teachings of Jesus,

how your body is a temple.

196

:

And really, I think another time

they want to know who God says you are.

197

:

All of these things are just

and you have a way of twist tying

198

:

in with artistry

and your photography and your video work

199

:

and just kind of pulling it all together,

like in one enormous blender

200

:

and putting it all together

and really teaching all of us

201

:

through your eye, which is really great,

not to God be the glory.

202

:

I'm super thankful that the gifting

that He's giving me is content creation

203

:

and he is the creator,

and I'm just learning to lean on him.

204

:

Because if you look around

what he created is incredible.

205

:

So I need a little bit of that creative

flow from him, and that's where I lean on,

206

:

Oh, that is cool.

207

:

Well, we have one more day with you.

208

:

Tell us again how we can keep in touch

with you, where we can find

209

:

your work and get familiar

with you between now and tomorrow.

210

:

Absolutely.

211

:

So the main hub for everything is 85

frames dot com slash our ministry.

212

:

I keep everything up

to date there and posted.

213

:

So if you want to follow along,

that's where you'll find me.

214

:

You really do.

215

:

And all of your links to all of your

social media platforms, they're all there.

216

:

So we are excited to catch up

with you again tomorrow morning.

217

:

Dear sir.

218

:

Anxious to find out what that fourth

downloaded word is.

219

:

Awesome. Thank you so much, Chris.

220

:

Have a blessed day.

221

:

Thank you to see them. But

222

:

all right.

223

:

Any more questions

on what we have going on with Christian?

224

:

Let us know this week for what

:

225

:

4192401937.

226

:

All right, Christian, you still there?

227

:

Yeah, still here. Chris, There you are.

228

:

All right, dude, one more day.

229

:

It's been a fast week with you.

230

:

Yeah, it really has gone by quickly.

231

:

There is a lot of time and preparation

into it, so it's kind of like bittersweet

232

:

because it does seem to be clicking away,

but I just feel the Lord on it so much.

233

:

And I honor you guys and I just I value

just the opportunity to share God's word.

234

:

It is extremely humbling.

235

:

Oh, my gosh, dude,

this show this week has been potent

236

:

and you're a major part

of bringing key words into this thing.

237

:

Gentle nudges, little subtle reminders.

238

:

You know,

I think those reminders are badly needed.

239

:

You know, we go through our routine,

but sometimes those reminders

240

:

kind of like, come in and remind you,

Oh, wait, there's a routine going on.

241

:

I need to stop for a minute.

242

:

Ponder.

243

:

You know, I need to be still.

244

:

In the past, the past three days

been good reminders of those.

245

:

So but yeah, I'm excited

to catch up with you again tomorrow.

246

:

We will see you

at about 23 and a half hours.

247

:

All right.

248

:

That's an interesting way to look at it.

249

:

Look at year over and come on. I know

250

:

these two men. We'll see in the morning.

251

:

All right.

252

:

Sounds good, Chris. Have a good one.

253

:

Back home.

254

:

It's so true.

255

:

I really feel like this week

has just been cruising by

256

:

on this radio show.

257

:

I've had like two months.

258

:

I think it was two months

to prepare for this when I found out that

259

:

I was going to be on Toledo's one and only

Yes Fam with Chris Shannon and Jeff

260

:

Howe, and I was excited, a little nervous

261

:

because people like Sid Roth

262

:

have been on this show

263

:

or at least interviewed by by

264

:

Yes Fam

or someone within the organization.

265

:

So I was like, Oh man.

266

:

Like, so I really had to seek the Lord on

what he wanted me to bring and

267

:

as you listen throughout the progression,

268

:

you know, fear of man freedom

or freedom from fear of man,

269

:

freedom from immorality, lust,

270

:

freedom from distraction of mind,

carnal mind,

271

:

you'll hear

my own personal testimonies within them

272

:

and it's not that

I want to talk about myself.

273

:

It's that by the power of the blood

274

:

in the word of our testimony.

275

:

So I truly, really believe

276

:

that everyone has gone

through something, right?

277

:

Everyone has a story to tell.

278

:

And if you are one of the Christians

that don't have this crazy

279

:

come to Jesus,

280

:

Holy Spirit comes in like a mighty rushing

wind.

281

:

Whatever crazy story.

282

:

If you don't have that pardon me.

283

:

If you don't have that testimony,

you have the best testimony,

284

:

and you're like,

What do you mean my testimony is boring.

285

:

Like, I've just always been a Christian.

286

:

I've always had a relationship with God,

like everything's been

287

:

good, like I never yada, yada, yada.

288

:

That's because

289

:

God promises to be faithful

and to bless generation

290

:

after generation after generation of those

who walk with the Lord.

291

:

The fact that you have been walking

in that grace and that promise

292

:

is a true testament

to God, the Father, to the Trinity,

293

:

and over your life

you can say, Hey, look at my parents.

294

:

They were God fearing.

295

:

They got on their knees, they wept.

296

:

They served Jesus.

297

:

I did the same thing in

my life has been great.

298

:

I know you hear a lot of these testimonies

about drugs

299

:

and yada yada,

300

:

but my testimony is that God

301

:

is true to His word that he is faithful.

302

:

That's the best testimony.

303

:

It's not the most boring and don't wish

you had any other testimony.

304

:

That is the one that you should

be seeking and wanting.

305

:

But as

306

:

this progression of these devotionals

going through,

307

:

I try to implement

308

:

my own personal testimonies

309

:

because of by the power of the word

and or the word of our testimony

310

:

by the power of the blood

in the word of our testimony.

311

:

It's early.

312

:

I know the radio went good,

but I was up at one

313

:

and five something in the let our dog out.

314

:

Oh my gosh, this week.

315

:

And I was like,

316

:

But we have all gone

317

:

through something,

whatever our testimony is,

318

:

and we have a grace in that area

and our life is anointed.

319

:

I'm telling you that area

and your life is anointed

320

:

to go out and help others

break chains in those areas

321

:

because you have overcome it with the Lord

Jesus, allowing the Holy Spirit

322

:

to renew you from the inside,

which makes an outward change,

323

:

not trying to fix your appearance

to make an inward change.

324

:

It doesn't work that way.

325

:

It's always from the inside out, always

326

:

you have the grace

327

:

to go to people

and to help them through those things.

328

:

You are simple testimony gives hope.

329

:

Your simple testimony proves that

330

:

Jesus Christ does what he says.

331

:

That's good, guys.

332

:

So don't be ashamed of.

333

:

Maybe not so ideal

334

:

things that have happened in your life.

335

:

I just.

336

:

I feel like saying maybe even

337

:

a lot of them are traumatic. Like

338

:

deep evil, traumatic.

339

:

God loves you so much.

340

:

He's called you for a purpose,

341

:

and he has not given you more than you can

handle.

342

:

You are still here.

343

:

You are still a warrior.

344

:

You are still fighting, and you are

more than a conqueror in Jesus Christ.

345

:

Don't be ashamed of these areas.

346

:

A lot of times life happens

347

:

and we don't have a lot of say.

348

:

We do live in a fallen world.

349

:

We do live in a Seinfeld world,

350

:

but overcome those

351

:

through joy of your salvation,

352

:

through trusting in the Lord,

laying those areas down to Jesus

353

:

so he can use them for his glory,

you know?

354

:

Romans 828

God works all things for the good of those

355

:

who love, who love him

and are called his plans and purposes.

356

:

Ephesians 111 God works

357

:

everything in accordance to His will.

358

:

All things work for those who love

359

:

God for the good,

what the enemy meant for evil.

360

:

God turns it to good.

361

:

You just have to trust in him,

believe in him,

362

:

and to know that he does

have a plan for your life.

363

:

Your life is not meaningless.

364

:

What you went through is not meaningless.

365

:

You will break chains in Jesus name.

366

:

You will bring healing

to other men, other women

367

:

that have gone through and walk

through the same thing

368

:

that are going through

or walking through the same thing.

369

:

So be encouraged that your story

370

:

is the only story around.

371

:

There's not others like yours.

372

:

You have a unique story

373

:

that nobody has ever heard

374

:

and the Lord wants to empower you

375

:

and enable you to go in freely,

376

:

not with condemnation, not with fear,

not with shaking and trembling.

377

:

There might be a little shaking.

I'm not going to lie.

378

:

The first day on the radio,

my hands are a little shaky

379

:

just because I was trying

to throw everything together so fast

380

:

and make sure the stream was working.

381

:

But know that you have the Holy Spirit

382

:

and He is your comforter

383

:

and for you to walk in confidence

384

:

is truly

385

:

knowing who Jesus Christ says you are,

386

:

is truly

knowing the Father's heart for your life.

387

:

So may I challenge you to

388

:

get into the word?

389

:

Yeah. The boring Bible.

390

:

La la.

391

:

God breathed on those words.

392

:

He inspired

the man that wrote those words.

393

:

When you're reading the Bible, you're

reading from the mouth of God himself.

394

:

Would you start in the New Testament?

395

:

Maybe you don't know that

396

:

the Bible is split into two halves.

397

:

The first is the Old Testament.

398

:

It's the old covenant,

and the second is the New Testament.

399

:

The New Covenant,

which is because of Jesus.

400

:

And that would start in Matthew, Mark,

401

:

Luke, John, all amazing.

402

:

They're called the Gospels.

403

:

Start and start in John.

404

:

You know,

he was the beloved starting math.

405

:

You get a little analytical.

406

:

You are not going to

407

:

find out who God

408

:

says you are without going and doing that.

409

:

You can hear it from other speakers,

but until you go in

410

:

and allow the Holy Spirit

to reveal that to you,

411

:

you just it'll be hard knowledge, but

not hard knowledge to go be a blessing.

412

:

Guys, I love you. Thank you for listening.

413

:

Thank you for supporting

and have a blessed day.

414

:

You guys are incredible.

Profile picture for Christian Searer

Christian Searer

I was saved by grace through faith. Called from darkness into light and forgiven of my sins. I have been made alive in Christ and purposed to declare His goodness on my life. I’m continually being renewed by the Holy Spirit and molded into the image of Christ.

I am who God says I am.

My desire is to widely share the authentic gospel of Jesus Christ. I want to model a lifestyle that is "worthy of the calling" and to be found approved.

This is how I give back to God what is rightfully His.

This is the Authentic Podcast.
