A Catholic Priest Yelled at Me...and It Revealed the Difference Between Religion and the Holy Spirit

And I look up and it's the priest, man. It's the priest. 200 people. I'm in the center. This is at a wedding. Everybody's watching us. And he goes, like, you need to put it in your mouth now. And I'm like, I will. And he turned around and I just have to laugh because I got yelled at by a priest in a Catholic wedding. And this is such a good teaching. the Holy spirit, God is everything.

It says in John 15, apart from him, we can do nothing, no thing, nothing that we can do. So God is everything. So talking about intimacy and centering on him, that's, that's where it's at. That's the power buddy. It's, it's not in the works. It's not in the, it's in who has accomplished it already for you on the cross. It's Jesus.

The Holy spirit is the way that I understand the Trinity is this, in reference to turning a light on in a room, the father gives a command to turn a light on. Jesus walks over to the light switch, clicks it. And the Holy spirit is the power that actually enables the light to illuminate. So when I think of the Holy spirit, I think of the power house behind God's

desires in our heart and for his will in heaven on earth. I'm laughing a little bit because I'm supposed to share a story, a testimony with you and Ryan's us all over it. has no idea, but it has to do with communion. has to do with remembering. I am in you. You are in me. I was reading that in John, and this is one of Jesus's prayers that he continually does from heaven.

in regard to his children. He says, father, I pray that they would be one as you and I are one. And I read this one time and it just jumped off the page at me. And I'm like, my goodness. Like if Jesus is praying that I could be one in him, like him and the father was I, I do what I see the father doing. I say what I hear the father. If I can operate at that level, like

I have Jesus praying for me to do this. Like this is, this is achievable. This isn't something that is so far-fetched, unreachable. Like this is something that I can walk in alignment with God on. Like this is his will and he's praying it actively for me, for you. So I am practicing this and the setting that I'm in is an Airbnb and I have three, four hours to kill.

And I'm just, practicing this. just, I'm in you, you're in me and I'll start to doze off. No, no, no, no, no, no. I'm in you, you're in me. My mind will start to wander. There goes a squirrel. No, no, no, no, no. I'm in you, you're in me. And the reason why I had four hours to kill is because my wife was a bridesmaid in a Catholic wedding. So I show up to the cathedral, it's a beautiful cathedral, tall ceilings, all the things, all the stuff that you could expect.

in a Catholic cathedral and the wedding ceremony is going on and it is far different than a normal typical wedding ceremony. And I'm not Catholic. I don't know a lot about Catholicism, but the people that are Catholic are kneeling down. They're saying stuff, they're getting up. We're singing kind of like a hymn sitting down and I'm just enjoying it because I'm in you, you're in me.

Wow. Look at my other brothers and sisters. Wow. Look at the way that they celebrate you and honor you and wow. Look at this tradition. And yes, we know the Catholics. Let's just set that aside for right now. I'm in a place of gratitude and honor and just taking it in.

Well, there comes a point in the wedding ceremony where we take communion. Okay. And I don't know anything about Catholicism, right? Like I'm in Jesus, Jesus is in me. What better way to seal this thing that I've been meditating on and practicing all day with Jesus than to take communion. I mean, come on. So there's a line of people, right?

And I get up, I get in line. I'm in you, you're in me. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah. I'm in you, you're in me. And I see when people are getting to the priest, they take their, this really big wafer and they kind of go off to the sides and I don't know, I'm just kind of watching this, whatever, but I'm in you, you're in me. I get to the priest and I take this really big wafer. say, thank you. And I had directly back to my seat. still 180 head right back to my seat and I sit down.

And when I sit down, break this wafer is huge. I break this wafer and I like to do that because Christ's body was broken for me. So even when I get the tiny little wafers in the communion cups, I always break them or piece of bread. I always break them as a prophetic act is a, is a thing of remembrance of what Christ has done for me. I'm sitting there with my head bowed down and I am praying and I am thanking him and I am sealing.

this thing up that I've been practicing all day with the Lord. I'd say there's maybe 200 people here in this wedding. I'm about halfway back in the pews of this big sanctuary praying to the Lord. And I feel a tap on my shoulder.

I'm like, who could be tapping on my shoulder? And I look up and it's the priest, man. It's the priest. And I'm like, like, what do you, like, what do you want, dude? And he's like, you need to eat it. I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like I'm just, I'm praying to Jesus. I'm thanking him for like his blood shed for me and his body broke in and he's 200 people. I'm in the center. This is at a wedding. Everybody's watching us. And he goes,

Like you need to put it in your mouth now. And I'm like, I will. And he turned around and I just have to laugh because I got yelled at by a priest in a Catholic wedding because I was recognizing what the Lord had done to done for me. And I was communing in him and he, and I, and I think when we do this, it really starts to separate us from the crowd. There's something about us that, wow, that person,

has been with Jesus. That person has been spending time. What, what power is this? What authority is this? What, what kind of teaching is this that even the demons obey? That's where the power is. While we are in communion with the Lord, the religious, they don't like it. Jesus was weird. Can we be real? Jesus was weird. He was misunderstood.

Why are you with prostitutes? Why are you a sinners? Why are you with tax collectors? Why are you on the dirt and spinning and making mud? And why are your disciples eating grains off the wheat? And, why this isn't normal. This, this isn't religion. This isn't the law.

And so is us when we are in Jesus.

Jesus was here and although he created the world, the world did not know him.

We aren't made to be of the world. We are in the world, but we are not of it. We are made to be set apart and different. And that is where the intimacy with the Holy spirit comes in. Boldness, zealous. says, you don't know where the wind is coming or going. And so it is with the sons of God who are led by the Holy spirit.

But to be led by Him, you have to remain and be in Him.

So we start practicing intimacy, religion and outside influences will always try to pull us away. I have one more for you.

When we do not center and focus on the things that the Lord has established in our lives, we quickly can be blown around by the waves, by the wind, by the storms of life, by the troubles of life, by the world news. We can be blown around when we don't remember the one who has always set our feet straight, has always brought us back into the fold when we have wandered astray.

who has healed us, who has delivered us, who has been faithful, who has provided for us the one in which we can trust. If we do not remember Him or what He has done in our life,

So there is this.

private meeting where it was my wife and I, are renting a, a house at a time. And there was five of us in total is my wife, myself, and there's four of us, my wife, myself, my cousin, and another woman. And we're praying and deliverance breaks out the Holy spirits there. Like it's a very, very powerful moment.

They felt led to pray for me to fall out in the spirit. And I, I haven't ever really fallen out in the spirit. I haven't like had a hand laid on me and got thrown back five feet onto the ground. Like I've seen that I've seen the Holy spirit literally tackle people where their chest goes up and like bang, they go down. I haven't experienced that. And there's a lot in my life that

You know, God has worked through pride where I literally just need to surrender, surrender to him, let go of me and let him. And this is part of what he was teaching me. So I'm standing there, the praying, the praying, the praying, and I'm being intimate with the Holy spirit. I know his voice at this point in time, I'm reading the word, I'm talking with him throughout the day and I hear him say, fall backwards.

I said, there's no way I'm not doing a courtesy fall. I'm not, I'm not falling backwards and you Ooh, got knocked out by them and it didn't actually happen. I'm not doing that. And I hear the Holy spirit again, say, do you trust me? I'm like, man, like, yeah, I trust you. And this is why we have to be remembering on these things that he's done in the past because he is trustworthy and we should obey and a list and listen to him.

This could have been a much shorter conversation had I just heard him the first time and said, okay. And fell backwards. And he said, I'm asking you to fall backwards. And I stood there for about 10 minutes of them praying because I had this. Pride inside of me. Like, I'm not going to fall back unless it's you, God. Well, it was him. And I finally said, you know what? I'm just going to go back.

So I started back a couple inches to the point where I couldn't catch myself anymore.

I was, I started something in motion and the Lord had to show up and somewhere between those first couple inches in the floor, the power of the Holy spirit hit me so strong. was on the ground, not convulsing, but so my muscles were so tense. My calves and my legs were actually sore.

for two weeks after the fact, like the amount of power that was like surging through my body. And I started prophesying out loud. And this is what I said. I said, I lack nothing. This is, this is midnight guys. have neighbors. This is in a city and I I'm not a quiet person. I read the amplified version. Hello. The loud version, like I'm yelling at the top of my lungs. I lack nothing.

I lack nothing. I lack nothing. And I do this for like 10, 15 minutes, just screaming at the top of my lungs, remembering who God is that I'm in him. He's in me, what he's done, what he's going to do. just, I lack nothing. And I stand up full of the power of the Holy spirit. And I look at my cousin and I said, get behind my wife.

And I pray for my wife. just put my hands up and one to her, bang. She falls out in the spirit. said to the woman, get behind my cousin, put my hands on her, bang. She falls out in the power of the Holy spirit. And I looked at the woman and there was an open chair in an open couch. said, which one do you want?
